Morocco: Ryanair first, now Easyjet, cut flights to Morocco

Tourism operators worried

(ANSAMed) - RABAT, JULY 11 - Britain's Easyjet will cut low-cost flights from Spain to Morocco following a Moroccan airport tax hike, causing worry among tourist sector operators, L'Economiste reported today.

Low-cost airline Ryanair also recently cut its Morocco routes for the same reason. ''This will certainly have a negative impact on the national tourism industry,'' National Travel Agency Federation Administrator Mohamed Benazzouz told L'Economiste. The Moroccan tourism industry has already suffered as a result of the European crisis, and ways must be found to keep budget airlines from cutting more flights and to guarantee Morocco as a destination, Benazzouz said.
